The Mountain Biking Basics Camp consists of 2 sessions on consecutive sessions. You can choose between a morning or an afternoon session.

 

Session 1 : October 20 & 27
Batch A: 9 AM – 12 PM

If you always wanted to learn about mountain biking but didn’t know where to start, then you have come to the right place! This session is ideal for people new to the sport and it will enable you to get over your inhibitions and learn to ride a mountain bike with confidence.

 

Our sessions will focus on sharing knowledge about the sport, understanding the sport with a focus on safety. You will get to understand how to ride a mountain bike by doing various drills to get a comfortable body. The participants will get to ride on the pump track and then head out to the local forest trails to put into practice the skills they have learned. Please note that this is a beginner centric program and we only focus on the basics of mountain biking. This session will NOT teach you advanced skills.

 

Mountain Biking is a great way to have a shared experience of adventure, nature and exercise with your family and friends. We will be riding trails in the forests at the foothills of the Ghoradeshwar mountain with gentle slopes that will help you learn the basics of taking your mountain bike uphill as well as downhill.

 

Overview of the MTB Camp

Bike Setup : Understanding the different aspects of a mountain bike, basics of how to use the gears and brakes effectively, adjusting saddle height and ensuring right tyre pressure

Body Position : Learn to ride MTB with the right posture and grip

Drills : Various drills to learn cornering and effective braking

Pump track : Learning to pump to generate momentum without pedaling

Climbing and Descending : Practice on different segments of the trail to perfect technique

Trail Ride : Putting all the skills to use in real time on the trail

 

Itinerary

00.00 Hrs: Meet and greet, followed by briefing and handing over of bicycles

00.15 Hrs: Basics of Mountain Biking at the Pump Track

01:15 Hrs: Break for 15 minutes

01.30 Hrs: Ride to the Trail Head

01.45 Hrs: Practising skills on different sections of the trail

03.00 Hrs: Ride ends at Spirit of Mogli

 

Essential Information

Minimum age for Mountain Biking is 12 years

Each participant has to sign a risk waiver or to be signed by parent/guardian for minors

Reporting Time : 15 minutes before the session starts

Course will be conducted on two consecutive Saturdays at the same time

Rental for 1x Mountain Bike with 1x Helmet for 2 sessions

Things to wear

Full/Half sleeve T-shirt (preferably Dri-fit)

Shorts Sport shoes with a good grip

Bandana to cover head inside the helmet

Wind cheater/ Water proof Jacket

DO NOT WEAR Denims / Formals / Sport Sandals

 

Things to carry

Water (2 Litres) Compulsory

A packet of Biscuits/ Dry snacks

Personal Medication

A small backpack to carry the above essentials

Is Mountain Biking safe? What about injuries?

Mountain Biking is an adventure sport which does come with its share of risks. We will be providing Helmets and you can bring your own cycling gloves. Beginner level trails are fairly wide with low risk of impacts and riders can cross difficult obstacles by walking over it.
Our guides are trained in Wilderness Advanced First Aid certified by NOLS. So in case of an unexpected injury, they are fully equipped to assess the situation and take steps till a medical facility is reached.

Do I need to bring my mountain bike?

No! You can come to Spirit of Mogli on just your personal vehicle without the hassle of lugging along your own MTB. We want to make mountain biking hassle free and easy to approach. That is why we have a fleet of 12 GT Avalanche Comp mountain bikes at Spirit of Mogli. There are 6 Small and 6 Medium size bikes so you can find the right size that fits you. The rental for the mountain bike is included in the price you pay.

I haven’t cycled in a long time. Will I be okay?

Cycling is like walking in the sense that once you know it you can’t forget it. We will do some fun drills to get you back into the groove and comfortable on the bikes. Next we spend time riding the Pumptrack to get used to the right posture and grip while on the bike. We will head to the forest trails only after we have warmed up and comfortable on the bicycle.

What is the minimum age for kids to learn mountain biking?

By age 13, most kids will be able to handle a mountain bike. We have 6 Small size Mountain Bikes that will fit most young teenagers. For younger kids we recommend BMX bicycles that can be used on our dirt pumptrack.

Terms and Conditions

Participants need to pay for the ride online to ensure their spot. If you want to bring a friend along, please share the link to the event so they too can pre-register. We cannot guarantee a spot for a walk-in entry.

 

Cancellation Policy: We will continue our mountain biking rides even in the rains in most cases. If the conditions pose a threat to safety, we will contact you and let you know in case of a cancellation. The pump track will remain closed if it raining heavily. If it is going to affect your booking, we will contact you. If for some reason you cannot make it due to any reason on the predetermined date, get in touch with us to reschedule.

 

The participant is expected to be at the venue, 10-15 minutes prior to the pre-scheduled time. Spirit of Mogli will not be responsible if you miss the event because of being late.

 

We encourage participants to carry their own safety gear like knee pads, elbow guards, and gloves which are specific to the individual. We will provide ONLY helmets for various cycling related activities.

 

Every participant will have to sign a Risk Waiver form. In case of minors, the form will have to be signed by their parents/guardian.

 

The sponsors/performers/organizers are not responsible for any injury or damage occurring due to the event.

 

The organizer does not take the responsibility for the loss or theft of any personal belongings during the event. Management reserves the right to evict a visitor from the  venue if their behaviour is considered inappropriate or offensive.

 

Strictly NO LIQUOR is allowed at the venue. People in an inebriated state may not be allowed entry.
